History of The Fair

Held every August in Meadville, Pennsylvania, the Crawford County Fair is one of the largest agricultural venues east of the Mississippi River, and possibly the oldest county fair in Pennsylvania.

The first Crawford County Fair took place in Conneautville, Pennsylvania in the 1852. September 25, 1946, marked the opening day of the reorganized Crawford County Fair; over 31,000 people attended the four-day fair that year. The 54th annual fair, held for eight days in August 1999, attracted 150,000 visitors. The fair has continued to grow steadily since relocating to the new fairgrounds with construction beginning in 1945 in West Mead Township at the intersection of Dickson and Leslie Roads. The newly adopted fair logo indicates the fairs existence at this site since 1945.
